Historically, Brooks saddles were made with small rivets. The riders on the Continental Tower had their Brooks saddles redone with larger brass rivets that were softer for the leather and increased the longevity. This practice was then adopted by Brooks some decades ago. A single badly placed hammer can damage the leather, so great care must be taken in manufacturing. Each copper rivet of the Special saddles is carefully hammered by hand by qualified craftsmen.
